Breaking Boundaries: Theory & Practice, Levels of Place Understanding, and Disciplines of Knowledge by Rami Daher

This presentation is based on a vision of creating a critical link and synergy between theory and practice in the disciplines of architecture, heritage conservation, urban design, and planning.  At first glance, it might be understood as the understanding of the technology of building and detailing of construction, which is part of that link. Still, this understanding does not fully represent the gest of that link as it goes beyond “technical” spheres.  The heart of the matter is bringing visionary thinking, informed by theory and research, into the practice in terms of critical thinking of “Site,” “Program,” “Type,” “how places are understood,” and the impact of all these processes of thought on architecture, place, and society.
