For the 10th year, AIA Middle East hosted the prestigious Year-End Conference and Design Awards in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The annual event took place in the vibrant city of Riyadh, between the 8th and 9th of December, 2023. This prestigious event gathered thought leaders, professionals, and enthusiasts to inspire, exchange knowledge, and connect individuals who are shaping the future of architecture in the Middle East.

This year's theme is Saudi Arabia: Morphology of a Nation.

Saudi Arabia is undergoing a period of unprecedented development, with new cities being built and urban fabric being reconfigured. At the same time, the country is deeply rooted in its cultural heritage, with a strong sense of tradition and history. This conference explored the ways in which these two forces interact and shape the built environment of Saudi Arabia.

One of the key themes of the conference was technological advancement. Saudi Arabia is home to some of the most cutting-edge architectural projects in the world and we explored how these projects push the boundaries of what is possible. We also considered the ways in which technology can be used to create a more sustainable future.

At the same time, we explored how Saudi Arabia's rich culture informs its built environment. From the traditional architecture of the old cities to the modern interpretations of these forms, we considered the ways in which the past and present intersect. We also examined the ways in which the built environment can help to preserve and celebrate cultural heritage.
