26 March Movie Night! Double Feature

AIA ME and Community Cinema
Architecture Documentary Screening of "Ledoux Saltworks of Arc-et-Senans" and "The Johnson Building" - Showing two episodes from an ARTE TV series (30 min each). Screening to be followed by open discussion with the audience.

The Saline Royale (Royal Saltworks) is a historical building at Arc-et-Senans in Doubs, eastern France, was designed by architect Claude-Nicolas Ledoux (1736-1806), a prominent Parisian architect of the time. The work is an important example of an early Enlightenment project in which the architect based his design on a philosophy that favored arranging buildings according to a rational geometry and a hierarchical relation between the parts of the project.

The Johnson Wax Headquarters is the world headquarters and administration building of S. C. Johnson & Son in Racine, Wisconsin. Designed by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright for the company's president, Herbert F. Johnson, the building was completed in 1939. It was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1976.

Note - Ledoux and Lloyd Wright were both share March birthdays.
